Due to continued project wins, this medium-sized engineering consultancy is seeking to add an additional Structural Design Engineer, on a full-time basis, to their growing team.
Established only a few years ago, the business has gone from strength to strength, establishing strong relationships with architects, builders and developers, they have frown their team to 15 and are on a pathway of continued growth.
Clients and projects are diverse, with a strong reputation for delivering across apartment, education, health, hotel, and public realm sectors. Projects vary in size and scale, with a typical value between $2M and $50M.
Reporting to the Structural Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Perform engineering design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings.
- Research design options and document findings.
- Review shop drawings.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
- Attend and participate in required external and internal meetings.
- Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area.
- Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
- Carry out all functions in accordance with the approved procedures of the Quality System.
- Actively support, encourage and participate in continuous improvement of the Quality System.
- Other duties as directed, to help the company provide outstanding service to its customers.
- A recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Experience working as a Structural Design Engineer on building projects, in a consulting environment.
- Familiarity with the design and analysis of steel, concrete, timber and masonry structure.
- Attention to detail and the capability to follow up targets and deadlines to achieve outcomes.
- The ability to work independently and to communicate clearly with clients, management team, office team members, and consultants.
- Strong time management skills, and able to achieve deadlines and commitments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
