The role will be for a minimum of 6 months, subject to possible extension after the tenure length (a shorter tenure length may also be negotiable depending on the applicant). We are seeking someone on a full-time basis and are happy to accommodate for remote or hybrid working arrangements. We are ideally seeking a Band 6-7 Planner and pay rates will be negotiable based on experience.
The applications you will be managing will vary. These include rural, farming, commercial, environmental, residential and growth-area applications.
Requirements:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Town Planning or an associated discipline.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A strong ability to negotiate and influence outcomes, and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage a case load of applications at a time.
- Expert knowledge on the Victorian Planning Scheme.
- Experience in a Local Government setting preferred but not essential.
- You'll be responsible for assessing a wide range of planning applications and managing a case load.
- Prepare correspondence relating to planning enquiries and reports.
- Represent council in a public setting when required.
- Handle enquiries and liaise with relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Provide information and advice to the Leadership Team on Statutory Planning matters and assist Junior staff as required.
