I am working with a well-established design and construct studio that delivers a mix of retail fitouts and custom residential projects across Victoria. With a steady pipeline of work and a collaborative team culture, they’re now looking to bring on a Senior Building Designer who can take ownership of projects from early concept through to documentation and delivery.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for leading your own projects end-to-end — from client briefing and concept design through documentation, permits and construction support. You’ll coordinate consultants, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and work closely with the in-house construction team to bring designs to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead retail fitout and residential projects from concept to completion
- Produce detailed design and documentation packages using Revit
- Manage client relationships and ensure design intent is carried through documentation and delivery
- Coordinate consultants and approvals, ensuring compliance with NCC and relevant building codes
- Review drawings, resolve design or technical issues, and oversee project delivery standards
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to quality control across the design team
- Advanced Revit skills, daily user, confident across full documentation sets
- 4+ years’ experience in building design or architecture
- Proven experience across retail/hospitality fitouts and residential projects
- Sound knowledge of Australian standards, codes and construction methodology
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Diploma or Degree in Building Design/ Architecture (or equivalent)
- Current registration with VBA (preferred but not essential)
