If you’ve recently qualified as a carpenter and want to move off the tools, this role turns your site knowledge into a career in estimating.
A privately-owned commercial and industrial builder in Ballarat needs a Bid Coordinator in its pre-construction team. You’ll work on live tenders from day one, with coaching, and take on more packages and whole tenders as you develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Use your site knowledge to review plans and specifications and develop trade scopes
- Phone subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and build complete scopes
- Compare quotes by trade and prepare comparison sheets
- Prepare bills of quantities and tender pricing in costing software
- Work with the pre-construction, design and project teams
Essential Requirements
- Carpentry or related trade qualification, ideally recently completed, with site experience
- Able to read plans and specifications and break work into trade scopes
- Confident on the phone chasing and negotiating pricing
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Based in or near Ballarat, working in the Ballarat office 5 days a week
Desirable Extras
- Certificate IV or Diploma of Building and Construction, completed or in progress
- Estimating or construction software experience (helpful, not essential)
