Aspect Personnel is working with a large, diverse metropolitan council to find an experienced Civil Project Manager for a temporary assignment, covering a team member who is on secondment. You'll join the Capital Delivery team and keep a live program of civil renewal and upgrade projects on track, from planning through to construction and handover.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can step in quickly. You'll take ownership of contracts and stakeholders, and help Council meet its capital works delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage civil and infrastructure projects from planning and design through to construction and handover to service managers
- Deliver a portfolio of about $4 million on time and within budget
- Prepare briefs, tenders and specifications, and manage consultants and contractors
- Act as Superintendent's Representative and advise the Superintendent
- Carry out risk assessments and prepare quality and probity plans
- Evaluate design options on economic, aesthetic, maintenance and construction grounds
- Give engineering support on stormwater and Integrated Water Management matters
- Engage with Council officers, residents, authorities, contractors and consultants, and chair project meetings
- Track budgets, financial phasing and schedules, and prepare regular progress reports for management and Council under the PMO framework
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Civil Project Management, or extensive project management experience in an assets and capital delivery setting
- Substantial experience delivering complex civil projects, including financial management
- Proven contract management experience, including Superintendent or Superintendent's Representative duties
- Skill in preparing briefs and complex tenders, and interpreting plans, specifications and technical reports
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and costing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong negotiation and stakeholder skills
