We’re partnering with a specialist consultancy to find a Senior Design Manager who can lead with confidence, drive technical outcomes, and immediately contribute to large-scale, industrial projects across the food, beverage, dairy, and manufacturing sectors.
If you’re comfortable navigating the full project lifecycle from feasibility to construction and thrive in a technically complex environment, this role will give you both autonomy and impact.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Project Leadership & Delivery
- Independently lead multidisciplinary projects through all stages
- Coordinate consultants, manage budgets, and align teams to scope and timelines
- Ensure delivery quality while proactively managing design risk and compliance
- Provide high-level design direction, QA, and oversight
- Resolve complex technical issues and ensure documentation standards are met
- Guide design sign-offs and provide technical support during construction phases
- Represent the business with confidence in client meetings, council negotiations, and authority approvals
- Navigate regulatory environments and contribute to successful planning and permitting outcomes
- Coach and develop junior and mid-level designers
- Foster a team culture of quality, safety, and innovation
- Support bid development and proposal responses
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with existing and prospective clients
- Proven experience delivering complex industrial projects (F&B, dairy, manufacturing highly regarded)
- RPE / VBA-registered engineer
- Strong skills across design documentation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
- Experience across feasibility, detailed design, and construction support
- Confident in town planning coordination and authority approvals
- Strong communication and leadership skills – comfortable being client-facing and a key project contact
- A passion for technical delivery and continuous improvement
