We're seeking a Casual Environmental Health Officer to join our Regulatory Services team. This is a field-based role delivering statutory environmental health services across our municipality, helping create a safe and healthy environment for residents and businesses.
As a casual, you'll work flexible hours as required, making this a great opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health Officer looking for variety and flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct statutory inspections, food safety assessments, sampling and complaint investigations at registered Class 1, 2 and 3 food premises
- Investigate and resolve public and environmental health issues under relevant legislation, including the Public Health and Wellbeing Act and Environment Protection Act
- Assess applications to install or alter onsite wastewater disposal systems and advise internal and external customers
- Deliver statutory inspections of registered health premises (including skin penetration premises and rooming houses) and investigate health nuisance complaints
- Work independently, prioritising a diverse workload and exercising sound judgement within delegated authority
- Eligible for membership of Environmental Health Professionals Australia as an Environmental Health Officer
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, approved under Section 29(3) of the Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008
- Experience assessing and reviewing food safety processes at Class 1 and 2 food businesses
- Strong written and oral communication skills, able to explain technical information clearly to customers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a local government Environmental Health Officer is desirable
- Current Victorian driver's licence required
- Experience in local government or other complex organisations is desirable
- National Police Record Check
