The Company
Our client is a well-established Australian food manufacturer operating across multiple sites in Melbourne's north and west, supplying high-care food products to one of the country's leading national retailers. With a workforce of several hundred people across the group and a strong reputation for quality and consistency, the business continues to grow its volumes and capability.

A standout feature of this organisation is its commitment to its people. The business has built a strong culture of developing talent from within, investing in formal training, qualifications and succession planning across its technical, quality and safety functions. This continued growth has created an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to take ownership of plant upkeep and engineering operations at their Coburg North site.

The Role
Reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager and working closely with the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the hands-on leadership of the site maintenance team in a high-care, high-volume production environment of approximately 200 staff.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading, developing and scheduling the maintenance team to support production targets
  • Managing the servicing, repair and modification of plant and equipment to a safe and operational standard
  • Developing and driving preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximise uptime and reliability
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with food safety, hygiene and high-care standards (HACCP, GMP and customer requirements)
  • Partnering with Operations, Quality and Safety teams to support audits, compliance and continuous improvement
  • Managing maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, contractors and capital projects
  • Championing a continuous improvement culture focused on plant efficiency, effectiveness and reliability
About You
As the successful candidate you will have:
  • Dual-trade qualification (electrical/mechanical) or relevant engineering degree
  • Proven experience leading a maintenance team within a food manufacturing or similar FMCG process environment, ideally high-care
  • Aptitude to maintain complex process and packaging equipment involving automation and PLC controls
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements as they relate to plant and equipment
  • Strong people management and leadership skills, with a commitment to developing team capability and performance
  • Experience with CMMS and preventative maintenance systems
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills with a high mechanical aptitude
  • Good understanding of enterprise agreements and a strong safety-first mindset
A competitive salary is on offer, along with the opportunity to join a stable, growing business that genuinely invests in the development of its people.
