Looking for your next opportunity in local government planning? We’re partnering with a well-regarded council in Melbourne’s East to find a Statutory Planner who can step in and make an immediate impact.

This is a fantastic short-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced council environment and is confident managing a busy caseload from day one.

About the role:
You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative planning team, taking ownership of planning applications and seeing them through efficiently. This is a hands-on role where your ability to work independently and hit the ground running will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process planning permit applications, amendments, approvals and extensions
  • Prepare and present submissions to VCAT
  • Respond to phone, counter and written planning enquiries
  • Provide clear advice to internal stakeholders and the community
  • Support management with briefings, meetings and departmental priorities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across statutory planning processes
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records and files
About you:
  • Proven experience in statutory planning within local government
  • Confident working autonomously and managing competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable in a customer-facing environment
