Reporting to the Team Leader, Strategic Planning Advisory, you'll provide strategic planning advice to State and local government on planning policy, planning scheme amendments and land use planning matters. You'll play a key role in helping integrate environmental and human health considerations into planning decisions, while building strong relationships with government stakeholders and delivering high-quality, timely advice. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic planning advice to State and local government on structure plans, precinct planning, planning scheme amendments and planning policy.
- Support planning officers to embed environmental and human health considerations into land use planning and statutory decision-making.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in line with project objectives and organisational standards.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team and identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.
- Complete administrative and regulatory tasks while ensuring compliance with relevant government policies, procedures and legislation.
- Build positive relationships with government stakeholders and the community to promote best-practice environmental planning.
Key selection criteria
1. Experience and qualifications
• A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications is desirable.
2. Knowledge and skills
• Knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017, Environmental Effects Act 1978, and Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990.
• Knowledge of the Victorian Planning System.
• Knowledge of strategic and statutory planning processes, and the translation of policy and guidance into practical application.
• Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
• A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
