Our client is a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Melbourne, known for delivering high-quality commercial and residential building projects across the city. With a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative, technically-driven team culture, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing practice.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior structural engineer to take on a role with genuine autonomy, mentoring responsibilities, and exposure to a diverse range of commercial and residential projects. You'll work closely with directors and project teams, taking ownership of designs from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and documentation for commercial, industrial, retail and residential building projects, from concept through to the construction phase
- Manage projects independently, including client liaison, fee proposals, and coordination with architects and other consultants
- Review and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, providing technical guidance and quality assurance
- Prepare and review structural computations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with relevant Australian Standards
- Liaise with builders, certifiers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal design standards and processes
About You
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- CPEng (or eligibility to obtain) with a minimum of 8+ years' post-graduate experience in structural design, ideally within a consulting environment
- Strong technical knowledge across a range of structural materials (concrete, steel, timber) and building types
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Space Gass, ETABS, or similar
- Proven experience managing projects and mentoring junior staff
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and project stakeholders
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail
