KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
• Accountable for the provision of an accurate and efficient development approvals process for planning, subdivision, and liquor licences applications in accordance with relevant Acts and Policies and for the provision of accurate advice to the community.
• Accountable for the quality, effectiveness, cost and timeliness of programs and projects, including data bases, systems and technology being managed.
• Freedom to act is substantial but limited by agreements with the Manager Regional City Planning over directions and to the areas nominated by legislation, Council policies and the corporate goals.
• Ensure that decisions of the Council, Division and Senior Management Teams are executed promptly and effectively, ensuring that all requested reports are supplied on time for meetings, and attend meetings as required.
• To be responsible to the Coordinator Statutory Planning for the provision of professional advice in areas relevant to the Officer’s background and expertise and particularly in respect of the Team responsibilities.
• To be responsible for a range of special projects within the position’s area of general management ability, as agreed from time to time.
• Assist in the development of planning policies and dissemination of information concerning planning issues within the Council.
• Contribute to the efficient preparation and administration of planning scheme amendments to ensure that the Planning Scheme reflects the strategic approach to planning within Council.
• Problem solve and develop policy in relation to planning, subdivision and liquor licencing matters.
• Make decisions on all matters which are the responsibility of the position, provided that these are within delegated authority, legislative requirements, established policy or recognised standards.
• Undertake development approval, customer enquiries and planning related tasks in a professional manner.
• Ensure decision making is in accordance with planning and corporate strategies and policies.
• Make decision in an environment where guidance and advice would usually be
available within the time required to make a choice.
