- 5 plus years experience in VIC planning
- Reporting to Coordinator Statutory Planning
- Band 6 Senior Planner will be reporting to Principal Planner
- Join a team of 8 planners
Role -
- Undertake the assessment of priority planning applications in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with relevant Acts and policies.
- Undertake development and assessment of development plans, complex planning applications, land information planning certificates, customer enquiries and planning related tasks in a professional manner.
- The provision of an accurate, efficient and customer focused development approvals process for planning, development plans, subdivision, and liquor license applications in accordance with relevant Acts and policies and for the provision of accurate advice to citizens.
- Assist in improving the development approvals process wherever possible including meeting performance standards, embracing continuous improvement and achieving a high level of customer service.
- Ensuring that the implementation of development contribution plans is in accordance with relevant Acts, planning and corporate strategies and policies.
- Ensure that decisions of the Council, Division and Executive Team are executed promptly and effectively, ensuring that all requested reports are supplied on time for meetings, and attend meetings as required.
- Demonstrate problem solving and policy development skills using technical expertise in relation to planning, subdivision and liquor licensing matters.
- Make decisions on all matters which are the responsibility of the position, provided that these are within delegated authority, legislative requirements, established planning and corporate strategies and policy or recognised standards.
- Endeavour to resolve any disputes, issues or concerns which arise with the development approvals process through effective negotiation and ensure that they are dealt with in a coordinated manner.
- Guidance and advice would usually be available.
- The position involves managing time, setting priorities, having vision, people management skills and planning and organising own work. This position also requires the ability to meet objectives within time constraints, conflicting demands and within budget.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to budgets, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the outputs of the team to reflect overall Council objectives and priorities and team service standards.
